What does Judgement mean in love?

A relationship reassessed with clear eyes: the whole of it, including the parts that are usually left out of the account.

It covers reconciliation and ending equally, and it is one of the few cards where the outcome genuinely turns on what the assessment finds rather than on what the card prefers. What it insists on is that the assessment actually be made after a long period of ambivalence.

Reversed, holding a grudge past the point where it protects anything. The card is gentle about why that happens, which is usually that letting it go would mean the hurt no longer counts, and firm that it stops working long before people put it down.

As somebody's feelings, it reads as a person taking stock rather than reacting: something is being weighed in full, and a decision is coming that will not be revisited.

Awakening, absolution, a calling. Reviewing your life honestly and choosing accordingly. Second chances, reunions, and long-delayed forgiveness of others or of yourself.

The distinguishing feature is scope. Justice weighs one matter; Judgement takes the whole of it at once, which is why the card so often arrives at the end of a long period rather than in the middle of a situation.

In an advice position it asks for an honest total rather than another adjustment. It is a poor card for tinkering and a strong one for the decision that has been available for years.

Ignoring the call. Harsh self-judgement standing in for actual change. Refusing to forgive, or refusing to be forgiven.

The second is the one to watch, because it looks like accountability. Somebody who is extremely hard on themselves and has changed nothing has substituted the feeling of reckoning for the act of it, and the card reversed is unusually good at spotting the difference.

Also read for the reckoning postponed, which does not make it go away and generally makes it larger. The tradition is not threatening about this so much as arithmetical.
