Nine of Wands

The Nine is the last stretch, guarded and tired. You have been through it, you are bruised, and you are still standing. The card's hard sympathy is that being nearly finished is not the same as being finished.

Resilience. One more push. Wariness earned by experience. You are closer than you feel, and your defences are appropriate rather than paranoid.

Depleted past the point of usefulness. Paranoia, or refusing help you badly need. Sometimes: putting the guard down at last, safely.

Guardedness from previous hurt. Testing a partner rather than trusting them. Reversed, walls that are now the obstacle rather than the protection.

Persisting through a gruelling project. Nearly there. Reversed, running on empty and needing to say so.

Financial resilience under strain. Holding the line on a tight position.

Endurance as a practice. The unglamorous middle of the work, which is where most of it happens.

Depleted reserves, low-grade exhaustion, a body that has been coping for a long time. Rest is not optional here.
