The Career Change spread

Six cards for the decision to leave: what you are actually leaving, what you are moving toward, and what does not change either way.

Draw the Career Change

How to read it

Narrower than the Career & Purpose spread and built for one specific moment, which is the point at which staying and going have both become real options.

How to read it: read positions 1 and 2 as a pair first. "What you are leaving" and "what you are running from" are frequently different cards, and the gap between them is the most useful thing this spread produces. A change made to escape something tends to reproduce it.

The sixth position is the one that decides things. What stays true either way is usually the actual problem, and if it is something you carry rather than something the job supplies, a new job will not touch it.

Practical note: tarot has nothing to say about your notice period, your finances or the market. Use this to get clear on what you want, then make the decision with information.

What each position means

  1. What You Are LeavingThe real substance of the current situation, stripped of your story about it.
  2. What You Are EscapingWhat you are moving away from, which is not always the same thing.
  3. What You Are Moving TowardWhat the new direction actually offers, as opposed to what it promises.
  4. The Cost of GoingWhat the change takes from you.
  5. What You BringThe capability you already have and are underrating.
  6. What Stays True Either WayWhat the decision will not solve. Usually the real question.

The question matters more than the layout. These help with both.

Tarot When You Cannot Decide

Most stuck decisions are not close calls. They are decisions where something has not been named. Here is a spread built to find it rather than to pick for you.
