The Career & Purpose spread

Five cards on work: where you stand, what you are good at, what is blocking you, what to do, and what it leads to.

Draw the Career & Purpose

How to read it

Built for the career question that is really a purpose question: should I stay, should I go, is this it.

How to read it: the "hidden strength" position is the one people consistently under-read. It names something you already have and are not using, and it is usually the answer to the obstacle card sitting next to it.

Use it when: you are considering a change, feel stuck, or are trying to decide between two directions. Less useful for narrow tactical questions for those, use Situation/Action/Outcome.

What each position means

  1. Where You StandYour current position, honestly assessed.
  2. Hidden StrengthA capability you already have and are not using.
  3. The ObstacleWhat is actually blocking progress. Often not what you would name first.
  4. The ActionThe move to make from here.
  5. Where It LeadsWhat this path opens up.

The question matters more than the layout. These help with both.
