Three of Swords and The Tower

Heartbreak and the event that caused it. The Three of Swords is the deck's plainest image of grief; The Tower is sudden structural collapse. Together the tradition reads them as pain with an identifiable moment attached, which is not the same as pain that accumulated.

A betrayal or disclosure rather than a drifting apart. The pair points at a specific moment somebody could name, which is a different kind of grief from the sort that arrives without a date attached.

Associated with sudden loss where the injury is personal as well as practical. Often read where the manner of it did more damage than the fact.

Both cards are about something that has already happened. Neither is a warning, and reading them as one is the common mistake.
