How to read the Situation, Action, Outcome
Where Past/Present/Future describes, this spread advises. Use it when you already understand the situation and need to know what to do about it.
How to read it: the middle card is the one that matters. Read the first for context and the third for consequence, but spend your attention on the action card, including when it suggests something you do not want to do.
Common mistake: reading the outcome card as a verdict on whether the action is worth taking. It is not a score. It describes what follows if you take it.
The positions
- The SituationWhat you are actually dealing with, stripped of your story about it.
- The ActionWhat the cards suggest you do. The instruction, not the description.
- The OutcomeWhat follows if you take that action.
