Persuasion drawn against fact. The Magician is the deck at its most articulate and Justice is entirely uninterested in how well something is put. The tradition reads the pair as a caution: this is the combination where being convincing and being right come apart.

Associated with winning an argument and being wrong, and with the particular damage that does when it is noticed later.

Read for a case that is well made and does not hold. The pair favours checking the substance before polishing the presentation.

Ask whether you are right or merely persuasive. If the answer takes effort, you have it.
