Setting out into what cannot be seen properly. The Moon does not hide the path so much as make every feature of it uncertain, and The Fool proceeds regardless. The tradition reads the pair without alarm and with a caution: confidence is not visibility.

Associated with committing to somebody whose situation is genuinely unclear, and with the difference between trusting a person and understanding one.
