The Fool and The Hierophant

The uninitiated and the institution that initiates. The Hierophant holds a body of knowledge with a way in and a way of being taught; The Fool does not yet know there is a door. The tradition reads the pair as the moment before an apprenticeship, and it is neutral about whether the apprenticeship is a good idea.

Associated with somebody entering an established set of expectations, a family, a faith, a way things are done, without having been raised in it.

Read for training, joining and being taught. The pair favours submitting to the form for long enough to learn it, which is the part The Fool finds hardest.

You can reject a tradition you have learned. Rejecting one you have not is only ignorance with an opinion attached.
