The Fool and The Hermit

The two solitary trumps facing opposite ways: The Fool going out with nothing and The Hermit going in with a lantern. The tradition reads the pair as the same aloneness at two ends of a life, and it declines to say which is the more advanced.

Associated with somebody unattached by inexperience beside somebody unattached by choice, and with the mutual misreading that produces.

Read for the beginner and the specialist in one situation. Neither has much use for the middle of an organisation, which the pair notes without disapproval.

Being alone at the start and being alone on purpose look the same from outside. Only one of them is a decision.
