The two trumps with their feet off the ground, and the tradition makes a great deal of the difference. The Fool is stepping and The Hanged Man is stopped; one is motion with no support and the other is support with no motion. The pair is read as the moment a leap becomes a suspension.

Associated with a relationship entered quickly and then held in place, unable to progress or end. The pair does not assign blame for the stall.

Read for an impulsive move followed by a long wait, and specifically for the discomfort of having committed and then being unable to act.

The waiting is not a punishment for the leap. Treating it as one is what turns a pause into a grievance.
