Ten of Cups and Ten of Swords

Fulfilment and ruin in the same draw, which the tradition reads as a completion that ended something else to happen. The Ten of Cups is the whole thing arriving; the Ten of Swords is the whole thing finishing. Read together they are one cycle closing decisively, and the deck does not treat the pairing as contradictory.

Associated with a settled happiness that required a definite ending first. Read as the cost being real and already paid.

Arriving somewhere good by way of something that comprehensively failed. Frequently read in hindsight rather than in the moment.

The order is the reading and only you know it. A ruin followed by a fulfilment is a recovery; a fulfilment followed by a ruin is a different card entirely.
