Nine of Cups and Ten of Cups

The wish and the thing the wish was standing in for. The Nine is the satisfied figure with nine cups arranged behind him, arms folded, pleased; the traditional name is the wish card. The Ten is the rainbow, the family, the shared happiness that is not about one person at all. Together the tradition reads getting what you asked for and finding out what you wanted.

Associated with personal satisfaction alongside shared contentment, and with the difference between being happy with somebody and being happy about them.

Ambition met, and the discovery that the good part was the people. Read warmly and slightly wryly.

The tradition notices that the Nine is sitting alone. Nothing is wrong with the Nine, and the Ten is the one people describe afterwards.
