Death and Five of Cups

The ruler of Scorpio with its first decan. Death is the irreversible ending; the Five of Cups is the cloaked figure over three spilled cups with two still standing behind. The tradition reads the pair as grief for something genuinely gone, and this is one of the few places it does not soften the finality.

Two cups are upright and unregarded in the Five, which is the tradition offering the only consolation it thinks is honest. It does not suggest looking at them yet.
